Project Overview
Located south of the traditional Wuhan Old Town, this project transforms a rural area into a globally recognized benchmark for sustainable new towns. The development prioritizes meticulous recycling, low energy consumption, and environmental harmony. We have extended the existing wetland waterpark to the heart of the New Town, seamlessly integrating it with the central park. The plan encompasses new business districts, a civic center, and diverse residential districts, fostering an innovative creative industry and ecosystem.
Design Objectives
To achieve an eco-intelligent new town center that offers a superior environment for work, living, and entertainment – a true satellite city of Wuhan – we established eight key design objectives:
Wuhan's Back Garden: Create a new town centered around the expansive Central Park.
Water Neighborhood: Preserve and enhance the existing water system within the site.
Urban Farm: Integrate farmland into the landscape design, creating opportunities for urban agriculture.
Preserved Riverfront: Develop a vibrant riverfront wetland park along the Jushui River.
Future Intelligent City: Implement sustainable development principles, emphasizing high recycling rates and low energy consumption.
Character Core: Establish a lively neighborhood social, commercial, and entertainment hub around the central park.
Refined Circulation: Optimize pedestrian and vehicle routes, incorporating bike rental facilities to promote alternative transportation.
Green & Active Streetscape: Design a green boulevard and active pedestrian walkways, incorporating a vibrant food and beverage (F&B) street along the central park to enhance the public realm.
Water System & Landscape Features
Furthermore, we have preserved the existing water channels and irrigation canals, integrating them into a comprehensive water system. This system includes a bio-pond to the west, near the Jushui River, and connects with the central park pond:
Agricultural Axis: Farmland will be retained along the Huazhao axis, providing opportunities for agricultural education and visitor engagement.
Scenic Walkways: Wooden walkways along the canals will create a picturesque and tranquil environment.
Sponge City Functionality: The water canal network will collect rainwater from surrounding parcels, contributing to the project's "sponge city" design and mitigating flooding risks.
