Shaping a New Experience in Nanjing’s Historic Core
MixC Nanjing, a retail-led mixed-use development, is set in the heart of Sanshan Street—a district with over 700 years of history. At the center of this site lies the Yunzhang Guild Building, a cherished cultural landmark that anchors the design within the city’s ancient urban fabric.
The concept seamlessly blends the district's rich historical context with a vision for a vibrant future. Balancing tradition and modernity, the project reimagines long-term sustainability by preserving and enhancing the area’s historic street patterns and textures. The closed-box format has been redefined into an open layout, promoting visibility and connectivity around the guild building and its events courtyard.
Inspired by Nanjing’s architectural identity, the design draws on the city’s colors, materials, styles, and scales. The triangular site features three distinct façades:
Facing the main commercial boulevard, the design interprets traditional Nanjing architecture with multi-story façades.
Along the inner streets, layered setbacks echo the intimate feel of old village pathways.
Adjacent to the Chengnan Residential area, the façade draws inspiration from "Yanliaofang," a traditional building style.
The development’s internal pedestrian streets, woven into the urban fabric, connect visitors to the historic centerpiece while supporting street-level vitality. Strategically located near multiple train stations, MixC Nanjing enhances urban mobility and accessibility for visitors from various entry points.
A highlight of the project is its fourth-floor rooftop, a green oasis offering outdoor spaces for relaxation and quiet recreation, providing a retreat from the city’s vibrant streets below.
MixC Nanjing establishes a new urban destination that harmonizes modern commercial life with local history, creating a dynamic space where the past and future coexist.
